COLLECTING

New Zealand's largest fishing and aquaculture business 'Sanford' contributed to this research project by granting access to their facilities in Havelock and Timaru and supplying material samples for experimentation.

Used buoys, aquaculture ropes and fishing nets were collected and chosen for experimentation as they are the most common forms of marine pollution and there is currently no responsible disposal option for the equipment in New Zealand.
